测量酒精酒度通常用酒精表、酒精计，酒精表又称酒精比重计。酒精表是根据酒精浓度不同，比重不同，浮体沉入酒液中排开酒液的体积不同的原理而制造的。当酒精计放入酒液中时，酒的浓度越高，酒精计下沉也越多，比重也越小；反之，酒的浓度越低，酒精计下沉也越少，比重也越大。
