(1) L-乳酸钠同时也被广泛用作护肤品的滋润剂，能使皮肤保持水份，减少皱纹。 乳酸钠用于化妆品中能与别的化学成份形成水化膜而防止皮肤水分挥发，使皮肤优质轻松湿润状态，防止皱纹产生，被广泛用作护肤品的滋润剂。
乳酸还作为pH的调节剂。L-乳酸盐可作为新一代皮肤增白剂，当与其它皮肤增白剂配合使用时可产生协同效果。
(3) 乳酸钠可作为保湿剂用于各种浴洗用品中，如沐浴液，条状肥皂和润肤蜜。
在液体肥皂，香皂和香波中可作为pH调节剂。此外，添加在条状肥皂中可减少储藏过程中水分的流失，因而防止肥皂的干裂。
(4) 乳酸钠能非常有效地治疗皮肤功能紊乱。如：皮肤干燥病等引起的极度干燥症状。
